East Cork JBFC Winners 2023

Niall Motherway receiving the Michael Boig Coleman Cup on behalf of Dungourney

On an inclement day in Caherlag, our footballers proved victorious in a tough battle against a spirited Glanmire side.

An early noon kick off coincided with the peak of a yellow rain warning and with strong rain and gusts prevailing throughout the game, scoring proved difficult. Dungourney registered three unanswered points early on in the game and with just one reply from Glanmire the teams went in 0-3 to 0-1 at half time.

The rain eased slightly in the second half but conditions were still difficult. In the second half, Dungourney netted a goal and an additional point, with Glanmire scoring two more points leading to a final score of 1-4 to 0-3. Despite the low scoring it was a highly entertaining game, which ebbed and flowed as both teams battled hard against each other and the conditions.

Congratulations to the players and management on this fantastic achievement. Our footballers now go forward to the county and will play the winners of the Carberry division in early November. Details will be posted here once finalised.
