Championship Update September
A brief update on fantastic championship performances by all three of our teams over the past few weeks.

Unfortunately, our PIHC championship finished last Sunday with a spirited win over Bandon in Cloughduv. Despite the win, Ballincollig beating Castlelyons left all three teams level on points, however points difference means they went through and our season comes to an end. But what a season! Our first ever PIHC game finished in a win over a “stunned” Ballincollig with Dungourney firmly announcing their arrival to the grade. A defeat against a tough Castlelyons side in which our lads didn’t show their full potential was followed by last Sundays win over Bandon. Despite no quarter final our lads have shown we are more than able to compete at this grade and they will no doubt push on from here. Congratulations to the team and management on a fantastic season.

Despite our PIHC season being over, we still have plenty to look forward to. Our Junior hurler’s, having two wins against Bride Rovers and Russel Rovers under their belt had already qualified before last nights game against a fancied Midleton. After a tough battle it finished in a draw and both teams, now level on points are into the knockout stages. Details of our next game will be posted here once available.
And finally our footballers are in action this Saturday afternoon in Youghal in the East Cork Junior B semi-final against St. Catherines. Castlelyons conceded their first game against us, we beat Glenville and a draw with Glanmire secured our place in the knock out stages. Its worth pointing out all three of our teams finished level on points with the group winners this year, highlighting how competitive we are in all grades.
This year we have also entered an U21 team in both football and hurling so plenty of action to look forward to as we move into the autumn.
As always, thanks for your support and please come out and cheer on our footballers this Sunday. Dún Guairne Abú.
